Shibli Faraz Raises Concerns Over Senate Chairman’s Inaction on Resignation and Production Orders

Islamabad: The Leader of Opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, delivered two letters to the Senate Chairman containing his vital points about Senator Sania Nishtar’s unapproved resignation and Senator Ijaz Chaudhry’s absent production warrant.

According to Shibli Faraz’s first letter, Sania Nishtar resigned on September 18, 2024, and her resignation has not been officially accepted, which has left her seat empty for more than five months. He questioned the unjust treatment because Muhammad Qasim, along with other senators, received fast resolutions for seat vacancies while Sania Nishtar and Ijaz Chaudhry seats remained vacant for months.

Shibli Faraz wrote in his second letter to the Chairman that Ijaz Chaudhry received a production order at the Senate’s 346th session, yet the Punjab government did not provide any assistance for his attendance. The right of Mr.Ijaz Chaudhry to take part in Senate proceedings demanded attention from the Chairman, who needed to enforce Senate rules and protect transparency and fairness standards.
