Afghanistan, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, posted a strong total of 325 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. In response, England was bowled out for 317 runs, despite a valiant 120-run innings by Joe Root.
Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran was the star of the match, scoring a magnificent 177 runs. He built crucial partnerships with Hashmatullah Shahidi (40 runs) and Azmatullah Omarzai (41 runs), adding 103 and 72 runs, respectively.
