Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally approved the project of the province’s first airline, ‘Air Punjab.’ During the meeting held in Lahore, a detailed briefing was given on the plan of ‘Air Punjab,’ under which it has been decided to lease 4 Airbus aircraft initially.
Maryam Nawaz directed that all arrangements should be completed soon to make ‘Air Punjab’ the best and highest-quality airline in the country. The meeting also reviewed the Lahore Yellow Line and Gujranwala Mass Transit Line projects. A deadline of May 30 for the completion of the Yellow Line study project and June 15 for the study of Gujranwala Mass Transit was set.
The Chief Minister was also briefed on the e-taxi project, while the Lahore to Rawalpindi bullet train project was given in-principle approval. Various options for collaboration and public-private partnership of Pakistan Railways are being considered in this project. Maryam Nawaz has entrusted senior minister Maryam Aurangzeb with the task of coordinating with Pakistan Railways.
Planning has also been initiated for six more high-speed train routes in Punjab, including Lahore to Shahdara and Narowal, Lahore to Raiwind, Kasur, Pakpattan, Lodhran, Sheikhupura, Jadanwala, Shorkot, Jhang, Sargodha, Lala Musa, and several high-speed train projects from Faisalabad to Shaheenabad.
