Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif have met Bangladesh’s religious affairs advisor Dr. Khalid Hussain. The aim of this meeting was to further strengthen the historical and friendly relations between the two countries and promote cooperation in various fields.
During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said that this is the best time to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of shared historical, cultural and religious values between the two countries.
Maryam Nawaz said that relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are not limited to borders but are based on brotherhood from generation to generation. She added that the Punjab government would welcome cooperation with Bangladesh in important areas such as green energy, flood management and agricultural sustainability.
The meeting also agreed to increase cooperation in the field of education. Bangladesh announced 500 new scholarships for Pakistani students, which is aimed at further strengthening relations between the two countries in the education sector.
Other issues of mutual interest such as regional peace and increasing people-to-people contacts were also discussed in the meeting.
