Punjab educational institutions to have five-colored garbage bins

Taking an important step for environmental improvement, the Punjab government has announced the implementation of the ‘Smart Waste Management Process’ in all government and private educational institutions of the province.

According to the official announcement, five-colored garbage bins will be installed in schools in which different types of garbage will be collected. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a notification in this regard.

Senior Provincial Minister for Environment Marriyum Aurangzeb will supervise the project, while Education Minister Rana Sikandar and Local Government Minister Zeeshan Malik have been assigned targets. The deadline for installing bins in all educational institutions has been set by September 30, while regular inspections will begin from October 1.
