BISP Nasunuma Program Reduces Stunting Rate in Children by 6.4%

The ongoing Nasunuma Program under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has shown positive effects, resulting in a significant reduction in the rate of stunting in children across the country.

According to the BISP statement, a report by the Institute for Global Health and Development, a reputable private university, has confirmed that Pakistan has crossed an important milestone in the fight against malnutrition. According to the report, the rate of stunting in children has decreased by 6.4%.

The announcement said that more than 3.5 million women and children have directly benefited from the program so far, while 540 centers are providing services in 156 districts.

The Nasunuma program includes maternal and post-natal care, immunization facilities, cash assistance and nutritional supplements. BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid said that “Healthy mothers are the foundation of a healthy nation and this program is a major step towards achieving this goal.”
