Major changes in visa rules in the UAE, four new types of visit visas introduced

The UAE has announced major changes in visa rules and introduced four new types of visit visas, while special residence facilities have also been provided for widows, divorced women and those staying on humanitarian grounds.

According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), these amendments are part of the UAE’s open policy and strategy to attract experts, innovators, entrepreneurs and tourists from around the world.

The four new visit visa categories include artificial intelligence experts, entertainment industry professionals, participants in global events and tourists arriving via cruise ships or luxury yachts. These visas will be issued on a single or multiple entry basis and will require verification or sponsorship from authorized institutions.

In addition, the UAE has also introduced a Humanitarian Residency Visa, which will be valid for one year. This visa is for people affected by conflict or disaster and does not require a sponsor or host. It can also be extended.

The new rules include a one-year residency permit for foreign widows and divorcees, which can be extended for another year. Widows or divorcees of Emirati husbands without children will be able to apply within six months, while widows or divorcees of foreign husbands will be eligible to apply if they are supporting children and are resident in the Emirates.

Other amendments include the Business Exploration Visa and the Truck Drivers Visa, but they are required to demonstrate financial stability, health insurance, sponsorship and payment of fees.
