Lahore Police’s innovative step — Artificial Intelligence-based crime detection system introduced

Lahore Police has taken a major step towards crime prevention by introducing a modern Artificial Intelligence-based system, which will help in predicting crimes in the city and identifying potential hotspots.

This system has been developed in collaboration with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, which will identify potential crime hotspots using FIRs, Safe City camera data and field intelligence reports from the last three years.

According to police officials, this new system will not only help in effective allocation of resources but will also improve immediate response planning in emergency situations.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said that Lahore Police is now following a policy of proactive policing, moving away from the traditional approach. According to him, the use of artificial intelligence will help the police understand which areas are more likely to commit crimes so that action can be taken there early.

Faisal Kamran further said that this system will not replace human policing but will strengthen it further, so that decisions can be made more accurately, effectively and timely.

He expressed hope that after the implementation of this modern system in Lahore, not only the crime rate will decrease significantly but also the confidence of the citizens will increase.
