The Punjab Home Department has extended the implementation of Section 144 across the province till November 1. The notification issued in this regard has also directed to run a large-scale publicity campaign for public awareness.

According to the notification, there will be a complete ban on any kind of gatherings, processions, sit-ins, protests and public gatherings throughout Punjab. Gatherings of four or more people in public places will not be allowed.

A ban has also been imposed on the display of weapons, use of loudspeakers and publication and distribution of hateful or sectarian material across the province. A spokesperson for the Home Department says that the aim of this decision is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of life and property.

According to the government decision, the ban on wedding ceremonies, funerals, burials and the presence of government officials on duty will not apply. Loudspeakers will be used only for Azan and Friday sermons.

The Home Department has warned that due to current security concerns, public gatherings can increase the risk of terrorism, and miscreants can take advantage of the situation and attempt anti-state activities.
