The Pakistan Meteorological Department has released the lunar calendar for the year 2026, which includes possible dates of Islamic months, important times related to moonrise, moonset and sighting. This calendar has been prepared by experts from the Climate Data Processing Center on the basis of scientific data.
According to the details, the moon of the month of Shaban is likely to be sighted on January 21, the moon of Ramadan on February 18 and the moon of Shawwal on March 19, 2026. Similarly, the moon of Zil-Qa’d can be sighted on April 18 and the moon of Zil-Hijjah on May 17.
It was further informed that the start of the new Hijri year is expected on June 15, 2026 as the moon of Muharram Al-Haram is predicted to be sighted on the same date. The moon of Safar is possible on July 15, Rabi’ul-Awwal on August 13 and Rabi’ul-Thani on September 12.
According to the Meteorological Department, Jumada Al-Awwal is expected on October 12, Jumada Al-Thani on November 10 and Rajab Al-Mujab on December 10.
The department says that this calendar will facilitate the public and institutions in planning in advance.
