Happy announcements echoed in the news atmosphere of Islamabad when Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said that the international Eco Freight Train connecting Pakistan, Iran and Turkey will soon start running again. This service was suspended for a long time, but now it is being restored with new determination.
According to Hanif Abbasi, the restoration of this train will not only breathe new life into regional trade but will also further strengthen diplomatic and transport relations between the three countries. Initially, this train will work only for the delivery of cargo, while in the future, the facility of travel for passengers will also be added.
He explained that in the past, infrastructure and administrative issues have been a hindrance to the train, but now the government wants to bring it to new standards in line with the trade-enhancing vision of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
The Railways Minister also said that 400 kilometres of new rail track is being constructed under the Reko Dak project to increase mineral exports from Balochistan and to make Pakistan an important transit hub.
