Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the performance of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and said that the fruits of the government’s tax reforms have started appearing before the public.
The Prime Minister said that the collection of 5.9 million tax returns and the inclusion of 900,000 new filers in the net are a clear testament to the trust of the public and the success of the government’s policies.
He said that by the grace of Allah, the steps taken to improve the tax system are yielding significant results. Merit supremacy, transparency and performance culture have been promoted in the FBR to further improve the performance of the institution.
PM Shahbaz Sharif said that the implementation of the automated clearance system at ports has eliminated corruption and increased transparency. He said that the government has also made the process of filing tax returns easier for the common citizens.
According to the Prime Minister, the expansion of the point of sale network has led to a clear reduction in sales tax evasion, while the increase of Rs 9 billion in tax revenue is proof of the effectiveness of the reforms. He said that this journey of improvement of the FBR will continue in the future as well.
