Significant increase in mobile phone imports in Pakistan—more than 18 percent growth in four months

The demand for smartphones in Pakistan is increasing rapidly, and this trend has also significantly affected the import figures. According to official documents, a 18.53 percent increase in mobile phone imports has been recorded during the first four months of the current fiscal year (July-October 2025).

According to statistics, mobile imports reached $644.6 million during this period, while imports were only $420 million during the same period last year. On a monthly basis, phones worth $144.6 million were imported in October, $199.5 million in September, $155.2 million in August and $145.3 million in July.

Experts say that the partial stability of the rupee, the increasing trend of upgrading by consumers and limited local production have increased import pressure. According to them, if the government accelerates the smartphone manufacturing policy, dependence on imports can be reduced.
