After continuous fluctuations in crude oil prices in the global market, petroleum products are likely to become cheaper in Pakistan for the first fortnight of December 2025.
OGRA has completed preparations to send the initial working draft of petroleum prices to the Finance Ministry, according to which the government may be in a position to provide minor relief to the citizens.
According to sources, the price of petrol is likely to decrease by about Rs 4.15 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs 6.50 per litre. Similarly, a reduction of Rs 6.35 in light speed diesel and 75 paise per litre in kerosene is expected.
Last month, petrol was being sold at Rs 265.45 and high-speed diesel at Rs 284.44 per litre, while the new prices for December are expected to be Rs 261.70 and Rs 278.34, respectively.
According to economic experts, the drop in prices in the global market is temporary, so the relief expected in Pakistan from December 1 will not be much. They say that the government will not be able to pass on the full relief to the people due to import costs, dollar rate and levy adjustments.
The Ministry of Finance will announce the next petroleum prices on the night of November 30 after the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The new prices will be effective from December 1 to 15, 2025.
