Winter vacations announced in Islamabad district courts and Supreme Court

Registrar of the Islamabad High Court Muhammad Yar Walana has issued a notification for winter vacations of district courts, according to which the courts will remain closed from January 1, 2026, to January 8, 2026. All district courts will resume normal work on January 9.

The notification clarified that despite the holidays, all court offices will remain open so that filing, scheduling and other administrative matters are not affected. During this time, urgent cases and previously scheduled fixed cases will continue to be heard.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also issued a schedule for the winter vacations. According to the notification, there will be holidays in the Supreme Court from December 18, 2025, to December 31, 2025, while the court will resume normal operations from January 1, 2026.

According to the Supreme Court, the Registrar’s Office, Filing Section, Research Wing and other important departments will remain open during the holidays so that there is no disruption in the necessary preparations for the court proceedings.
