In order to control sugar prices in Shahr-e-Quaid, the administration has fixed new prices and announced strict implementation of them. According to the official notification, sugar cannot be sold at more than Rs 140 per kg in wholesale and Rs 143 per kg in retail.
According to the district administration, special teams have been formed to ensure implementation of prices, which will inspect shops in different areas. The authorities have made it clear that fines and other legal actions will be taken against those charging excessive prices.
The business circles have welcomed this decision of the administration and said that it will increase transparency in the market and eliminate unnecessary profiteering.
On the other hand, citizens have also called the announcement of new prices a positive step and have expressed hope that this move will ensure that sugar remains available to them at reasonable prices.
