New spirit in PSL: Wasim Akram appointed brand ambassador; start expected on March 23

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, while announcing important decisions to make the Pakistan Super League more effective on the global stage, has said that legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has been appointed as the brand ambassador of PSL. According to him, this decision has been taken with the aim of strengthening the global identity of the league.

In a statement, Mohsin Naqvi said that the proposed start of PSL is being considered from March 23 instead of March 26, on which consultations are underway with all franchises. He said that the final decision will be taken with the consensus of the franchise owners.

According to the PCB chairman, the board’s goal is to make the cricket academy the best academy in the region so that modern facilities can be provided to young talent. He clarified that Multan Sultans will be auctioned after the end of the PSL, while the PCB will operate this team itself in the current season.

Mohsin Naqvi said that 10 parties have qualified for the two new PSL teams, while the bidding of the teams will be held in Islamabad on January 8. According to him, this day is very important for the PCB, and he hopes that the teams will be sold at a good price.

On the question related to India, the PCB chairman took a blunt stance and said that Pakistan will talk on an equal footing in any matter. He said that if the Indian team does not want to shake hands on the playing field, then Pakistan also has no need for it.

According to cricket experts, making Wasim Akram the brand ambassador is a strategic decision for the PSL. Experts say that Wasim Akram’s global popularity will play an important role in the league’s marketing, sponsorship and increasing interest among international viewers, while this is being considered a positive development in the history of the PSL.
