Gas crisis intensifies in winter, industries and CNG stations face two-day gas shutdown

Sui Gas

With the arrival of winter, there is an extraordinary increase in gas demand in the southern regions of the country, in view of which the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has decided to temporarily shut down gas for the industrial sector and CNG sector.
According to the company spokesperson, gas consumption of domestic consumers increases manifold during the cold season, which is increasing the pressure on the transmission system. To balance this pressure and ensure uninterrupted gas supply to homes, gas supply to industries, captive power plants and CNG stations will remain suspended from 8 am on Saturday to 8 am on Monday.
Officials say that a load management plan is already being implemented for domestic and commercial consumers, under which gas supply is stopped from 10 pm to 5 am so that maximum convenience can be provided to consumers during the day.
On the other hand, industrial circles have expressed concern over the decision, saying that production activities are being affected by repeated gas shutdowns. According to industrialists, this situation may lead to an increase in production costs and a decrease in exports.
However, Sui Southern is of the opinion that in the current circumstances, it is necessary to provide relief to domestic consumers on a priority basis, as gas becomes a basic necessity in severe cold. The company says that industrial supply will be restored as soon as the situation improves.
