The Pakistani government has released the latest progress regarding Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, saying that the operation is continuing effectively and the enemy’s military capability has been severely damaged. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, while releasing the latest figures, said that the operation is progressing according to its goals.
He said that so far 481 personnel of the Afghan Taliban regime have been killed while more than 696 have been injured. According to him, 226 enemy checkpoints have been destroyed during the ground operations, and control of 35 more checkpoints has been taken.
The Information Minister said that the security forces have also targeted and destroyed 198 enemy tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns. He said that these operations are being carried out on the basis of meticulous planning and intelligence information.
He added that air strikes were carried out at 56 locations in different parts of Afghanistan, which damaged the enemy’s defence installations, weapons stores and communication systems. The aim of these attacks is to weaken the enemy’s offensive capability and ensure peace and stability in the border areas.
Attaullah Tarar stressed that the aim of the operation is to ensure national security, and these operations will continue until the set goals are fully achieved. He said that Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty and defence of its borders.
Defence analysts say such operations could affect the balance of power in the region. However, they also stressed that diplomatic efforts are also necessary for long-term peace.
Figures released by the government have made it clear that the scope of the operation is wide and that operations are underway on both the ground and air fronts. More developments and details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
