Multan Sultans beat Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets to top PSL 11 points table

Multan Sultans put in a brilliant performance in the 13th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, defeating Quetta Gladiators by six wickets to secure their third win of the tournament.

With this important victory, Multan Sultans topped the PSL points table and strengthened their position as one of the main contenders of the event.

Chasing a target of 167 runs, Multan Sultans got off to a brilliant start as Steven Smith played an aggressive innings at the top of the order. The right-handed batsman put immediate pressure on Quetta’s bowling attack by hitting a six and two boundaries in the opening over.

Smith completed his half-century in just 29 balls and put on a brilliant opening stand of 71 runs with Josh Phillip, who chased down the target early in the innings.

Steven Smith scored 53 runs while Shan Masood remained unbeaten on 46. Sahibzada Farhan also contributed with 32 runs.

Multan comfortably chased down the target in the 18th over, and secured victory with two overs to spare.

For Quetta Gladiators, Hassan Nawaz managed to take two wickets but the bowlers struggled to overcome Multan’s strong batting line-up.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators scored 166 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Saud Shakeel played a brilliant innings of 56 runs while Bhanu Jacobs remained unbeaten on 49 runs off 31 balls.

For Multan, Muhammad Nawaz performed brilliantly, taking three wickets while Arafat Minhas dismissed two key players.

Nawaz’s brilliant all-round display earned him the Player of the Match award.
