Russia Steps In as Putin Offers Help in Iran-US Talks After Key Call


Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Russia has signaled its willingness to play an important diplomatic role, as President Vladimir Putin spoke to Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga over the phone and offered cooperation in reducing tensions between Iran and the US.


According to sources, the conversation also discussed regional security, the global situation and recent talks in Pakistan.
The Iranian President, while appreciating Russia’s principled stance and humanitarian aid, said that the two countries are determined to further expand relations.


According to experts, this offer by Russia could be a precursor to new diplomatic activities in the region.
