Iran claims control of Strait of Hormuz amid renewed tensions with the US.

Iran has said that the Strait of Hormuz remains under its full control, amid reports of halted commercial shipping and escalating tensions with the United States.

A spokesperson for Iran’s central military command stated that there has been no change in the situation in the Strait, adding that the strategic waterway is entirely under Iranian authority.

Separately, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that strict monitoring and control would continue unless restrictions on Iranian-linked vessels are lifted. The force accused the US of effectively blockading Iranian ports and engaging in unlawful maritime actions.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key global shipping lane, particularly for oil exports from the Gulf region. Any prolonged disruption could have far-reaching consequences for global energy markets.

Observers note that the latest developments highlight growing geopolitical tensions in the region, with potential implications for trade, energy security, and international shipping.
