Remittances increase by 22% in April 2026, overseas Pakistanis send $13 billion back home

Remittances sent home by overseas Pakistanis have recorded a significant increase during April 2026, after which the total volume reached $ 13 billion. According to available data, remittances saw a 22 percent increase in April, which is being considered a positive sign for the country’s economy.

According to economists, remittances continue to be an important support for Pakistan’s external accounts. The recent increase has strengthened foreign exchange reserves while pressure on import payments and the rupee is also expected to decrease.

State Bank data shows that there has been an overall improvement in the inflow of funds from overseas Pakistanis during the current fiscal year.

Analysts say that additional remittances during Ramadan and Eid, increased use of Roshan digital accounts and improved confidence in the banking system are the main reasons for this increase. Saudi Arabia and the UAE continue to be major sources of remittances, while significant amounts have also been received from the UK and the US.

According to economic circles, continuity in remittances is important for Pakistan as these funds help in containing the current account deficit and reducing external payment pressures. Some experts have warned that the global economic situation and the situation in the Middle East may affect future trends, however, the current figures show the confidence of Pakistanis abroad.
