The moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH has been sighted in Pakistan

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi officially announced the sighting of the moon for Zil Hajj 1447 AH. Eid al-Adha will be observed in Pakistan on May 27, while Youm-e-Arafah in Saudi Arabia will fall on May 26.

The date of Eid-ul-Adha has been officially announced in Pakistan. According to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the moon of Zul-Hijjah 1447 AH has been sighted, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated across the country on Wednesday, May 27.

Representatives of various institutions attended the meeting held at the Meteorological Department office in Karachi. During the meeting, a detailed review of the testimonies received from across the country was taken. Later, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced the sighting of the moon in a press conference.

He said that reports of moon sightings were received from different cities of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee unanimously decided to sight the moon after examining all the testimonies.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that Eid-ul-Adha holds great religious significance for Muslims. This day commemorates the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). He said that Muslims should promote the spirit of brotherhood, unity and sacrifice on this occasion.

In Saudi Arabia, the schedule for the important stages of Hajj 2026 has been released after the sighting of the Zil-Hijjah moon. According to Saudi authorities, millions of Hajj pilgrims will perform Rukn-e-Azam at Arafat on May 26, while Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on May 27.

In Pakistan, preparations have intensified across the country after the announcement of Eid-ul-Adha. The rush of buyers is increasing in the cattle markets established in big cities, while activities in butchery, transport and other business sectors have also reached their peak.

According to economists, economic activities worth billions of rupees are expected on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, which will also benefit local businesses. On the other hand, the urban administration has prepared special plans for timely disposal of garbage and cleaning.

Scholars have appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness and caution and take special care of the deserving during the sacrifice so that the joys of Eid can reach all sections of society.
