Iran Condemns US Foreign Policy and Sanctions at UN Session

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, has once again strongly criticised the United States, saying that Washington is responsible not only for attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities but also on civilian infrastructure. According to him, these actions are against international law and the principles of the United Nations.

In his statement, he said that the United States is the only country in history that has used nuclear weapons, but today the same country is putting pressure on other countries in the name of human rights and peace. According to him, this is a clear contradiction and double standard that the international community should understand.

The Iranian delegate alleged that the United States has repeatedly used the United Nations Security Council for political purposes and promoted false narratives against Iran. According to him, this behaviour not only damages the reputation of international institutions but also raises questions about the global peace system.

He added that the US has imposed illegal sanctions on Iran and has increased tensions by supporting some military operations and Israeli policies in the region. According to him, these measures are pushing the Middle East towards instability.

Amir Saeed Iravani also said in his statement that the US presents itself as a champion of justice on the global level, but in practice it is the same country that is playing the three roles of “prosecutor, judge and plaintiff”. According to him, this situation is a major challenge to the impartiality of the international system.

He called on UN institutions to treat all countries equally and make decisions independent of the influence of powerful countries. According to him, if this is not done, trust in international institutions will further decrease.

According to analysts, this rhetoric has come at a time when the situation in the Middle East on the global level is already uncertain. Verbal tensions between Iran and the US often complicate diplomatic relations.

Experts say that although these statements do not immediately lead to any major decisions, they further highlight the lack of trust between the two countries. At the same time, they also revive the debate on the impartiality of institutions such as the United Nations.

Overall, this situation reflects that the role of power and influence is still decisive in global politics, and maintaining diplomatic balance has become a major challenge for small or medium-sized countries.
