SBP Announces 3-Day Eid ul Adha Holidays From May 26

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Friday that it will remain closed from May 26 to May 28, 2026, on account of public holidays for Eid-ul-Adha. According to a circular issued by the central bank’s External Communications Department under notification number ECD/M&PRD/PR/01/2026-38, all offices and branches of the apex bank will observe the holiday recess from Tuesday to Thursday.

This mid-week suspension of operations is expected to temporarily pause clearing and settlement cycles across the country’s commercial banking networks. Banking sector sources indicate that while physical branches will shut down, automated teller machines and digital payment platforms will be monitored closely to ensure uninterrupted service before regular operations resume on Friday, May 29, 2026.
