Pakistan and China have signed several important agreements to take bilateral relations to a new level and enhance cooperation in various fields.

During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to China, he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing and discussed various issues including economic cooperation, regional peace, CPEC and investment.

President Xi Jinping, while welcoming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, said that China attaches special importance to its relations with Pakistan. He said that the friendship between the two countries has grown stronger over time.

The Chinese President appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan for peace and stability in the region and said that China is willing to further expand cooperation with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while speaking, said that Pakistan-China relations are based on mutual trust and long-standing friendship. He said that the 75-year diplomatic relations between the two countries are an example of a strong partnership.

He termed CPEC as an important project for Pakistan’s development and said that the next phase will focus on industrial development, agriculture, digital technology and clean energy.
During the visit, 15 agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between Pakistan and China. These agreements include trade, environment, education, media, agriculture, scientific cooperation, counter-terrorism and human resources.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met with representatives of Chinese businessmen and companies, in which investment and technology cooperation were discussed.

Political and economic experts say that this visit can be helpful in further strengthening economic ties between the two countries and creating new opportunities for cooperation in the region.
