9th Muharram Processions Continue Across Pakistan Under Tight Security

Mourning on November 9 continued across Pakistan on Friday, with security measures in place to ensure peace at religious events in the provincial capital.

The main procession of Muharram 9 in Karachi began at Roshneer Park, and security arrangements were in place along its traditional routes. Police closed a major stretch of MA Road to ensure the movement of mourners and public safety.

Security measures, surveillance measures and checkpoints have been diverted to regulate the crowd and ensure smooth movement.

In Lahore, the traditional celebration of Shabiya Zul Jinnah departed from Qasr Batool Imambargah and is continuing along its scheduled routes. A large number of mourners joined the mourners, while police and other provincial agencies made prominent places at various places across the city.

The prime minister said that comprehensive security plans have been implemented, which include monitoring of sensitive places and additional judicial commission on the routes.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, General Police Syed Ali Rizvi reviewed the administration at Imambargah Ashari.

Speaking to the media, the Islamabad police chief said that about 1600 people returned after performing Muharram prayers. He added that the police and the Pakistan Army are working together to ensure a safe environment for the mourners.

According to the government, a five-pronged strategy has been implemented, while containers have been controlled at key points to regulate access to the routes. Special controls have also been set up to monitor the situation.

The public across the country have been urged to cooperate with the People’s Republic of China and follow the advisory as Muharram celebrations.
