After the tragic accident that took place in the Kahna area of Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken immediate action and sought a comprehensive report of the incident from the concerned authorities. She expressed deep sorrow and grief for the children who died in the accident and directed that all the children undergoing treatment be provided with the best treatment facilities without delay.
According to an official statement, the chief minister, while seeking complete details of the incident, has directed the concerned institutions to fully determine the causes of the accident. She expressed sympathy with the affected families and said that the government stands with them in this hour of grief.
The accident occurred when the children were studying as usual in a tuition centre located in Kahna. Several children were buried under the rubble when the roof of the building suddenly collapsed, after which panic spread in the area.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir confirmed the accident and said that 14 children lost their lives. According to him, 19 affected children were immediately shifted to Kahna Hospital, where, after medical examination and treatment, 5 children are still undergoing treatment while others have been provided necessary medical assistance.
According to local residents, at the time of the accident, a normal class was going on in the tuition centre, and the children were busy studying. Immediately after the incident, citizens, rescue personnel and related agencies reached the spot, and efforts were made to extract the children trapped in the debris through rescue operations.
According to experts, after such accidents, it is very important to review the construction condition of the buildings, safety standards and security arrangements in private educational centers so that such unfortunate incidents can be avoided in the future.
According to government sources, after receiving the report sought by the chief minister, the responsible factors of the incident will be determined, and if any negligence is proven, action will be taken as per the law. Meanwhile, the treatment of the injured children and support for the affected families has been declared the top priority of the government.
