Reports published in the Russian media claim that Iran has used advanced missiles during recent attacks that are capable of evading conventional US missile defence systems and hitting their targets with high precision. However, these claims have not yet been verified by independent sources or officially confirmed by the US authorities.
According to reports, the missiles allegedly used move towards the target at high speed and have the ability to change their direction and flight path during flight. According to defence analysts, if a missile has these features, it can be comparatively more difficult for conventional air defence systems to intercept it.
Russian media have also claimed that the US Department of Defence (Pentagon) is investigating how Iran is able to hit sensitive military targets with such precision. However, no official confirmation of any such technical report or assessment has been issued by the US government or the Pentagon.
These reports have come at a time when the tension between Iran and the United States continues in the Middle East. At the same time, there have been reports of attacks on US military installations in the region, after which global attention has increased on the security situation.
Defence experts say that official statements, technical evidence and corroboration from independent sources are necessary to properly evaluate claims about advanced weapons and missile technology. According to him, in initial reports in war situations, claims can sometimes be changed or rejected later.
