Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has said that strengthening the constitutional and democratic process is essential for political stability in the country. He said that promoting contacts between the political leadership and a transparent electoral process can pave the way for a better political environment in the future.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gauhar said that the resumption of meetings with the founder of PTI can be expected to reduce political tensions. According to him, solutions to political issues should be sought through dialogue, constitutional process and democratic traditions.
He stressed that free, fair and transparent elections are of fundamental importance for a democratic system. According to him, all political forces should play a role in creating an environment where the people can freely exercise their opinions.
On the issue of terrorism, Barrister Gauhar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf does not support the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He said that indiscriminate action against those involved in terrorism according to the law is necessary to establish peace and order.
Describing peaceful protest as a constitutional right, the PTI Chairman said that in democratic societies, there should be scope for peaceful political activities to be carried out within the ambit of the law.
He said that the party meeting to be held in Peshawar on August 5 will be important in terms of future political strategy, where party workers and leaders will be informed about the future course of action. He also said that he will meet Mahmood Khan Achakzai soon.
Speaking on the elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Gauhar claimed that voter turnout was low due to the party’s election boycott. According to him, PTI supported the public demands but did not support any anti-state stance.
He concluded by saying that Kashmir holds special importance for Pakistan, and the two have strong historical, geographical and people-to-people ties. According to him, political stability and national unity are important elements for the future of the country.
