The prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been increased once again in the country, after which the expenses of citizens using motorcycles, cars and diesel-powered transport are expected to increase further.

According to the notification of the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 3.81 per litre. After the increase, the new price has been set at Rs 341.59 per litre. High-speed diesel has also been made expensive by Rs 3.59, after which its price per litre has become Rs 368.29. According to the latest available report, this increase in the prices of both products has been implemented from August 21.

According to officials, the new prices have been implemented from 12 midnight, while the current rates will remain in effect until August 24. Thus, consumers have faced another change in fuel prices within a few days.

On the other hand, the government has also increased the dealers’ margin for petrol and diesel. After increasing the margin by Rs 1.34 per litre, the dealers’ margin on both petrol and diesel has become Rs 9.98. Earlier, dealers were being given a margin of Rs 8.64 per litre.

The increase in dealers’ margin means that petrol pump owners will get more money on each litre sold than before. However, the change in the actual price for consumers is also related to other components of the overall petroleum price, which include the price of oil in the global market, import costs, taxes and other related costs.

The latest change in the prices of petroleum products has come at a time when fluctuations in the global energy market are affecting local fuel prices in Pakistan. In recent days, the government has also changed prices on a daily basis, which has resulted in rapid changes in petrol and diesel prices.

The impact of the new prices for consumers is not limited to the increase per litre. The increase in petrol prices can increase the cost of daily travel, while the increase in diesel prices can also affect the cost of freight and other sectors.
