Again in various parts of the country, the monsoon rains are ongoing. The Meteorological Department had predicted an increase in rainfall in certain parts of the country today. Locally, moderate floods are ongoing in the Indus River at Kalabagh.
The Meteorological Department has warned of chances of afternoon rainfall in northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Hilly regions in close proximity are also at risk of thunderstorms.
In the meantime, there might be a bit of relief in some areas as far as the weather is concerned. But, in hilly regions, the chances of sudden water flow and landslips could rise. The citizens have been warned to check the weather conditions in the area.
The river situation also continues to be the focus. The inflow of water into the Indus River at Kalabagh is being observed at 398,000 cusecs, according to the Flood Forecasting Division.
Low-level flooding has occurred at the Chashma and Taunsa barrages, and low-level flooding is also reported at the Guddu and Sukkur barrages. Water levels in other major rivers of the country are reportedly at normal levels.
It is not only the upper reaches that are affected by the recent rainfall. The water falling in the mountainous areas can later increase the flow of rivers. This is why monitoring is being undertaken for river water and weather.
In Islamabad, it is expected to remain hot and dry today. The capital’s weather could be partly cloudy, said the Meteorological Department. The peak temperature in the urban area is projected to be 35℃.
The Karachi weather forecast says it will be mostly cloudy and humid. There may be light drizzle in some areas of the city. Karachi’s present temperature is 28 degrees.
Heavy rains in Rawalpindi and Islamabad yesterday had an impact on the lives of the civilians. There was also a lot of water in many locations, and the power supply was also impacted in some areas. This situation prompted the city administration to heighten up the surveillance in low-lying areas.
