Pakistan’s Diplomatic Efforts on Iran-US Conflict Intensified

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that in his meeting with Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshkian, detailed discussions were held on the Iran-US conflict, the tense situation in the Middle East and steps to pave the way for peace.

Mohsin Naqvi said on social media platform X that he met the Iranian President along with the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He termed the talks positive and fruitful.

According to him, the steps required for the revival of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides were also discussed in the meeting. Pakistan believes that this progress can pave the way for a comprehensive solution to the Iran-US conflict.

The Interior Minister said that the Iranian President openly expressed his government’s position and reservations. The two sides held constructive discussions on the issues under discussion. According to Mohsin Naqvi, significant progress was made in the talks and the meeting ended in a positive atmosphere.

He said that Pakistan hopes that the recent diplomatic contacts will lead to further progress and open new avenues for lasting peace in the region.

On the other hand, according to the Inter Services Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army, during the talks with the Iranian leadership during Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Iran, preventing further escalation of tensions, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and early resolution of the dispute were also discussed. Both sides also discussed regional peace and resolution of the dispute through negotiations.

Pakistan has recently intensified efforts to advance diplomatic relations between Iran and the United States. The current talks aim to reduce tensions and explore possibilities to reactivate the Islamabad reconciliation process.
