Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Barrister Iftikhar Gilani has announced the restoration of internet service and transportation routes in the region in the next two days.
Talking to journalists on the occasion of his first visit to the Central Press House in Muzaffarabad, Iftikhar Gilani said that the internal and external routes of Azad Kashmir will be opened within two days. He said that the government is taking steps to restore normal transportation.
The Prime Minister said that instead of restoring the internet service at once, it will be started in phases. In the first phase, internet facilities will be provided to educational institutions. According to him, this process will start in the next two days.
The announcement of the restoration of the internet is especially important for students and educational institutions. Limited availability of internet can affect online education, educational communication and other digital services. The government’s decision to provide facilities to educational institutions in the first phase reflects this need.
Iftikhar Gilani also outlined his government’s priorities on this occasion. He declared the Kashmir issue, development and better governance as among the government’s key goals. He said that the people would feel a positive change in the coming days.
The newly elected Prime Minister also stressed on solving public problems and providing basic amenities. According to him, the government will take steps to improve administrative matters and reduce the problems of the people.
Iftikhar Gilani was recently elected as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate had secured 30 votes in the Legislative Assembly on August 28, while his opponent, the PPP candidate Sardar Mukhtar Ahmed Khan, secured 14 votes. Thus, Iftikhar Gilani was elected as the 17th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
The announcement of restoration of internet and roads is expected to help restore normal activities in Azad Kashmir. However, the speed of implementation of these measures and the details of phased restoration of internet will be clear from the upcoming government measures.
