The government has once again increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, after which both the important fuels have become more expensive.
Under the latest revision, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 1.8 per litre. After this increase, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 343.87 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by 51 paise per litre. The new price has become Rs 370.92 per litre. The new rates will be applicable from September 2.
This change has come at a time when the prices of petroleum products have been continuously and at short intervals over the past few days.
Petrol was fixed at Rs 342.79 per litre for September 1, while high-speed diesel was available at Rs 370.41 per litre. A day earlier, the government had increased the price of petrol by 77 paise, while diesel was reduced by Rs 1.3.
After the latest increase, the price of petrol has increased by another Rs 1.8 within a day. The price of diesel has also been increased again after the previous day’s decrease.
The authorities determine the prices of petroleum products by keeping in mind various cost factors, including the situation in the global oil market. Fluctuations in global oil prices are also affecting the assessment of local prices in the current period.
The increase in the price of petrol directly increases the cost of fuel for ordinary consumers. On the other hand, the change in the price of diesel can also have an impact on the cost of freight and public transport, as diesel is widely used in heavy vehicles and commercial transport.
According to the new prices, on September 2, consumers will have to pay Rs 343.87 for a litre of petrol and Rs 370.92 for high-speed diesel.
