Investors faced pressure on the Pakistan Stock Exchange during the last business week, and the market remained in the negative zone overall. At the end of the business week, the KSE 100 Index closed at 175,328 points with a decrease of 2,367 points.

The stock market remained volatile during the week. The KSE 100 Index traded in a band of 3,623 points. The market recorded a weekly high of 178,138 points, while the index also reached a low of 174,515 points.

The week was also very busy in terms of business activities. About 3.8 billion shares were traded in the stock market during the week. The total value of these transactions was Rs 166 billion.

Market capitalisation also recorded a decline during the week. The total value of the stock market decreased by Rs 256 billion to Rs 19,629 billion.

The data shows that selling pressure was more prominent than buying pressure in the market during the week. The significant difference between the high and low levels of the index also reflects the volatility in the market.

According to experts, looking at the closing level of the index alone is not enough to understand the weekly volatility in the stock market. Trading volume, market capitalisation and the high and low levels of the index also play an important role in assessing the trend of investors.

Despite the high trading volume in the recent week, the decline in market capitalisation indicates that overall pressure on share prices continued.
