Significant progress has been made in the process of examining net metering applications for solar consumers in the country. According to the Power Division, 11,695 pending applications have been disposed of after verification and verification, while work is also underway on the remaining cases.

This progress has come at a time when a large number of applications were pending during the transition from net metering to net billing system. According to official information, there were a total of 16,654 applications at this stage.

Officials say that the concerned consumers will no longer have to rely on any agent or unnecessary intermediary to get information about their application. The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has started directly contacting the eligible consumers.

Consumers are being informed about the confirmation of their application and further action through digital means including SMS and WhatsApp. The facility to check the current status of the application is also available through the online portal.

The Power Division has also made an important clarification in this matter. Consumers should not pay any fee or additional amount to any person in the name of quick processing or approval of the application. According to the officials, the direct contact system has been established so that consumers are protected from unnecessary interference.

On the other hand, verification of 4 thousand 959 applications is still underway. These cases are being examined in the light of relevant records and prescribed rules. The aim of this process is to properly proceed legitimate applications and prevent cases based on illegal or incorrect information.

The government has declared the use of solar energy as an important part of the country’s energy future. According to Energy Minister Owais Leghari, the government’s aim is not to create difficulties for solar consumers, but to create a transparent system in which the monitoring of applications is better and consumers can get timely information about their case.

This development by the Power Division is important for solar consumers as the process of knowing the status of applications is becoming more digital and direct. It can also help consumers reduce their dependence on unofficial sources for information.
