Petrol Price Falls as Diesel Gets More Expensive
There has been a slight reduction for petrol users; however, the price of diesel has been increased once again. The government has issued new rates of petroleum products for September 18.
According to the new rates, petrol has become cheaper by 43 paise per litre. After this reduction, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 390.79 per liter. On the contrary, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 3.47, and the new price has become Rs 424.92 per litre.
The change in prices has been made at a time when there was a big increase in petrol and diesel prices the previous day. On September 17, petrol became more expensive by Rs 6.88 to Rs 391.22 per litre and diesel by Rs 5.62 to Rs 421.45 per litre.
Although the reduction in petrol prices after the latest decision is very minor, the increase in diesel prices is significant for consumers. Diesel is widely used in transport, freight and various business activities in the country, so the impact of the change in its price is not limited to the pump.
According to the Petroleum Division, the new prices have been fixed under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. Along with changes in the global market, plot rates, premiums and other related costs have also been included in the price determination.
