The Pakistan Stock Exchange saw a bearish trend at the end of trading. The benchmark KSE-100 index closed at 170,425 points after a decline of 339 points. The index witnessed significant volatility during the trading session. On the other hand, the overall market value also decreased.
The opening and closing of trading in the stock market were amidst different trends. The index recorded a movement of more than 1,000 points during the day. This shows that the market was not stable in a limited range during the trading session. This change in prices kept the trading day uncertain for investors.
The KSE-100 index reached a low of 170,120 points during trading. Overall, the index was in a band of 1,006 points. At the end of trading, a decline of 339 points brought the index to the level of 170,425 points.
Looking at the volume of trading activities, 420 million shares were traded in the market. The total value of these transactions was Rs 17 billion. These figures show that despite the downturn, the stock market continued to trade.
On the other hand, a decrease of Rs 34 billion was recorded in market capitalisation. After this, the total value of the stock market was reduced to Rs 18,961 billion. The change in market capitalisation is used to estimate the increase or decrease in the total value of shares.
It is also important for investors to keep an eye on the total value of the market and trading volume along with the index level. However, a single day’s downturn cannot determine the long-term direction of the market. For this, it will be necessary to review the movement of the index and trading activities in the coming sessions.
