Tehran Sends Sharp Warning to Washington Amid Regional Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, responding to a Congressional Research Service report on US military losses during the war with Iran, claimed that the damage to US aircraft was higher than the official figures.

According to Abbas Araqchi, the US had confirmed that 42 military aircraft were damaged as a result of Iranian operations in May, however, the recent Congressional Research Service report put the number of US military aircraft hit or destroyed at 81.

The Iranian foreign minister said that the figures revealed in the report do not present a complete picture and that US air losses during the war are likely to be much higher. He did not provide further figures or details to support his claim.

Araqchi also questioned the US Central Command’s stance that its military bases in the region have been safe. He said that if US officials are satisfied about the security of their facilities, a sitting US senator should be allowed to visit these bases.

The Iranian foreign minister criticized the US narrative, saying that while it is possible to give the public a different impression on an issue for a limited period of time, it is not possible to hide the facts for a long time.

A report by the Congressional Research Service mentions the destruction or damage of 81 US military aircraft during the war with Iran. These figures from the report further highlight the ongoing debate about the effects and harms of military operations between the two countries.
