Friday was a mixed trading day on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, with investors’ focus on the news of a possible interest rate hike.
Business started on a positive note and according to market sources, investor concerns about the long march were eased. However, the comments of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on a one percent increase in interest rates created uncertainty in the market, which made investors cautious.
As a result of this cautious trend, the KSE-100 Index recorded a decline of 352 points and the market closed at 167,089 points.
During the day, 300 million shares were traded, with a total value of Rs 14 billion. Due to this decline, the market capitalization decreased by Rs 28 billion, after which the total volume of the exchange was reduced to Rs 18,569 billion.
