Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced the initiation of legal action against the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The party leadership maintains that the move is unconstitutional and affects the electoral mandate and sovereignty of the people of the province.
According to PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar and other leaders, the federal government’s move of October 11 is being challenged in the Peshawar High Court. According to reports, a petition has already been filed through a lawyer named Salman, in which the President, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Governor have been made parties.
PTI says that the decision to impose Governor’s Rule in the province should be examined in the context of constitutional principles and public representation. According to the party, protecting the elected provincial government and the mandate of the people is a basic requirement of a democratic system.
PTI leaders have made it clear that they will continue their peaceful struggle in parliament and public arenas, along with approaching the court on the issue. They say that the aim of the legal action is to protect the constitutional rights of the province and determine the legality of the government’s move.
The court action has now assumed importance in this matter. The court’s stance on the petition and possible orders will determine the future course of action. However, the filing of the petition, its contents and its current status in the court must be verified from the relevant court records.
