Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has sent a legal notice of Rs 5 billion damages to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain for levelling corruption allegations against the provincial government.
According to the legal notice, Chaudhry Salik Hussain has been demanded to withdraw his allegations, offer an unconditional apology and have the controversial parts of the relevant interview deleted or corrected.
ARY News host Naeem Ashraf Butt and channel chairman Muhammad Iqbal have also been made parties in the notice. The notice has given 7 days to fulfil the demands; otherwise, legal action has been warned.
Earlier, while addressing students in Attock, Maryam Nawaz had said that Chaudhry Salik is a federal minister; he should present evidence instead of making allegations. If he does not bring evidence, he will be taken to court.
The Punjab Chief Minister had said that she will not tolerate false allegations and will respond to the claims of corruption against her government through legal means.
On the other hand, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain stood by his statement and said that corruption is happening in Punjab, and he answered truthfully in the interview.
He said that his statement had nothing to do with the matter of the appointment of the DC, and the relevant officer had already been appointed.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain further said that a person should be humble after being given power and should pray to Allah to avoid arrogance and pride.
Thus, the dispute between the two leaders has entered a new phase after the allegations of corruption against the Punjab government and the legal notice in response to them.
