Popular messaging app WhatsApp has started introducing a new feature for Android and iOS users, through which the process of sharing photos and videos in chats will become easier.
Under this feature, users will see a thumbnail of the latest photo or video saved in the phone’s gallery as soon as they enter any chat, which will eliminate the need to open the gallery repeatedly to find the desired media file.
The new feature will show a small thumbnail of the latest media file above the chat bar. For some users, this feature may temporarily replace the camera icon with a thumbnail.
Users will be able to edit the photo or video before sending it by tapping on the thumbnail. In addition, the facility to add captions and stickers will also be available.
However, tapping on the thumbnail will not automatically send the photo or video to another user, but will give them the opportunity to edit and confirm it before sharing it.
This feature will not be limited to ordinary images but will also include screenshots and videos saved on the phone from other apps.
In this feature of WhatsApp, users will have full control to share or ignore the suggested media file.
Users who do not want to use this feature can go to the Chats section in the app settings and turn off the Recent Media Suggestion option.
The new feature is being rolled out in phases and this facility will also be provided to more Android and iOS users in the coming weeks.
