Pakistan Needs 178 Runs to Win as West Indies Set 254-Run Target

Multan: Pakistan, chasing a goal of 254 runs, finished the second day of the second Test match between Pakistan and West Indies. Pakistan has scored 76 runs for the loss of 4 wickets by the closing of play, needing 178 more runs to win; West Indies need 6 more wickets to win.

Played at Multan Cricket Stadium, the West Indies were dismissed for 244 runs in the second innings of the match, therefore posing a difficult target for Pakistan of 254.

Starting their second innings with a meager 9-run lead, the West Indies Having set a strong basis with 50 runs before Mickael Lewis was removed for 7, Captain Kraigg Brathwaite When Aamer Jango joined Brathwaite, together they raised the score to 92. Nauman Ali’s bowled-out Brathwaite’s 52-run innings ended. Wickets fell even with a few more runs as West Indies’ batting line-up collapsed. Kevin Sinclair scored 28; Shamarh Brooks made 35. The West Indies were all out for 244 runs in all.

With each taking up 4 wickets, Spinners Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan split the bowling honors; Abrar Ahmed and Kashif Bhatti each claimed one wicket.

Early trouble beset Pakistan’s pursuit as captain Shan Masood and Mohammad Haris both dropped cheaply for two runs apiece. Babar Azam added 31 runs, and Kamran Ghulam scored 19 before both were removed. Kashif Ali was unbroken on 1 and Saud Shakil added 13 runs. Pakistan was 76/4 close to play.

Kevin Sinclair of the West Indies claimed two wickets; Jomel Warrican picked one.

West Indies was bowled out for 163 in their first innings earlier in the game; Pakistan responded with 154 runs, so leaving West Indies with a 9-run first-inning lead.
