Islamabad: Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a top leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and spokesman for the government committee, has said that if members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) do not show up for tomorrow’s meeting, the Speaker will disband the committee.
Irfan Siddiqui spoke out against PTI for discussing talks in public. He noted that it’s still uncertain if PTI will join the meeting tomorrow. He stressed that if PTI doesn’t attend the meeting, the speaker can dissolve the committee, making the negotiations pointless.
Siddiqui added that when the process is finished, the government’s discussion group will also be disbanded because it won’t be needed anymore. He warned that if PTI takes any steps after the collapse, the government will respond.
He explained that the joint statement said there should be “seven working days” for discussions. At no time during the three meetings was it mentioned that not meeting requests in this time would mean ending the talks.
