Gold Prices Sharply Increae in Pakistan, Wedding Plans Disrupted

Karachi: The elevation of gold prices in Pakistan has reached new historical peaks which frustrates wedding planners and everyone looking to purchase gold. Gold prices for 24K reached Rs. 291,300 per tola whereas 22K gold cost Rs. 267,023 per tola as of January 31, 2025. The rising value of 24K gold reached Rs. 24,970 per gram which has pushed it beyond the means of several Pakistani families.

The world economic uncertainty combined with Pakistani rupee depreciation and heightened demand for gold as a safety valve explains this price increase. The market experiences decreased jewelry sales because customers choose to postpone purchases due to high prices.

During usual wedding season jerkels experience their busiest period yet this year’s market demonstrates reduced gold purchase volumes according to Ahmed Khan who operates his business from Lahore.

According to economic experts the current situation could continue making family expenses more challenging. Gold exists today as a desired commodity that exceeds the financial possibilities of Pakistani people.
