If war is imposed, the response will be ruthless: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has made it clear that Pakistan will not be lenient in defending its national security, sovereignty, and territory, and if any country – especially India – tries to impose war, Pakistan’s response will be very harsh and ruthless.

In an exclusive interview with British media, the DG ISPR spoke openly on the sensitive situation in the region, saying that both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers, and any serious escalation in such a situation can cause irreparable damage to the entire South Asia.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that if India thinks that it can open a front of aggression against Pakistan, then it will be its biggest mistake. According to him, the world’s major powers, including the United States, have become aware that India’s behavior is causing instability in the region, and tensions between nuclear powers can lead to a major tragedy.

The DG ISPR also expressed grave concern over the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by the Indian occupation forces. He said that India cannot suppress Kashmiris through military power. “India calls it its internal matter, but in reality millions of people there are suffering from fear and repression in the presence of Indian forces,” he said.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stressed that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions. Pakistan strongly supports the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and seeks a peaceful and just solution to this long-standing issue.
