Islamabad : The federal government has announced it will run five special trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2025 not only to facilitate travel but also to promote inter-provincial connectivity. This decision is being seen not only to facilitate the movement of people on Eid but also as a serious effort to strengthen connectivity between different regions of Pakistan.
The project, prepared under the supervision of Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi on the special direction of the Prime Minister, will strengthen railway connectivity between the four major units of the country – Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Such initiatives at festivals like Eid not only provide an opportunity for families to come closer. But it also sends a message of unity and solidarity within the country.
Inter-provincial travel by train: Not just a ticket, a way to connect hearts
According to the railway schedule:
- The first special train will depart from Karachi to Lahore on June 2.
- The second train will run from Quetta to Peshawar on June 3. It will directly connect the people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- The third train will run from Lahore to Karachi on June 3.
- The fourth special service will depart from Karachi to Rawalpindi on June 3.
- The fifth and final train will leave Karachi for Lahore again on June 4.
According to officials, additional coaches are being added to all trains. While the facility of booking online and at stations has been made more effective.
Social experts are calling the move not just a travel facility but a means of social cohesion and national integration. The coming together of Pakistanis belonging to different cultures and languages on the occasion of Eid strengthens the spirit of Pakistanism.
Railway officials have appealed to the passengers to book on time and show discipline during the journey so that the project can be successful.
